The most important changes in the new Domain Name Registration Agreement
The new Agreement will mainly continue the current practice and the established division of responsibilities between Registry .si and the Registrars. The most important changes were described when the Registrars were invited to provide their input to the proposed text of the new Agreement.
What you need to do to continue as a Registrar
If you wish to continue as a Registrar, you must sign the new Domain Name Registration Agreement by 16 February 2024 at the latest.
Don’t forget to provide us with the information about the “security contact”
Registry .si offers technical support in the event of a major information security incident where the integrity, confidentiality and/or availability of the .si domain portfolio is compromised. In this way, we aim to prevent, limit or remedy the consequences of an incident that could harm the domain holders, you (the Registrar) and us (Registry .si). For more information on technical support, please refer to the document “Technical-Support-Security-Incident.pdf”, which is located in the MatSi portal, under the “Downloads” tab.
To prevent any misuse of the technical support in incident resolution, we introduced a “security contact” several years ago, which can be used to identify the caller. Those of you who have provided us with “security contacts” in the past are asked to check them and, if they are no longer up-to-date, to inform us. For those of you who have not yet provided us with these contacts, we will provide you with instructions on how to do so after the signing of the new Agreement.
Once the Registry .si has received the details of your “security contact”, you will receive the direct telephone number of the Registry .si’s on-call technician. In the event of an incident, the on-call technician will be available to assist you 24/7 and not just during office hours.
What happens if you don’t sign the new Agreement until the deadline
If you do not sign the new Agreement by 16 February 2024, you will no longer be a Registrar for the Registry .si. This means that you will lose access to our systems (EPP, registrar web and registrar whois). Withdrawing access to our systems means that you can no longer register, update, renew or delete domains under .si.
In accordance with the General Terms and Conditions for the registration of domains under .si (clauses 9.2 and 9.3), in the event of termination of the Agreement, the Registrar must transfer its portfolio of domains to another Registrar within 15 days and notify the Registry .si and all affected Holders about the transfer in an appropriate manner. If the Registrar fails to comply with the obligations set out in clause 9.2, the Registry .si shall notify the Holders of the termination of the Agreement and the Registrar shall be charged for each domain that it has not transferred to another Registrar according to the Price List. The holders have to select a new Registrar by the end of the registration period. Any unused funds in your account will be refunded to you.
After signing, the new Agreement completely replaces the old one, which is also defined in Article 17.2. of the new Agreement. Failure to sign the new Agreement by 16 February 2024 shall constitute a valid reason for termination in accordance with Article 11.1 of the current Agreement. As a consequence, the contractual relationship between you and Registry .si will terminate.
How to terminate the current contract before the expiry date
If you already know that you do not wish to continue as a Registrar, you can send us a notice of termination.
